The latest Experis Tech Talent Outlook reveals 35% of IT organisations plan no headcount changes in Q2 (April – June) 2025. For employers who are planning changes, average hiring volume in the IT sector is set to decrease by -57% compared with hiring levels reported last quarter.
Amidst sputtering economic growth and rising hiring costs, plans to leave headcount unchanged have risen to the highest level in over a year, while hiring volume is set to see one of the sharpest drops of any sector versus last quarter.
A quarter of IT businesses report they are waiting for economic changes before making decisions on new hiring. Meanwhile, just 4 in 10 IT employers deferring hiring plans report current staffing levels are sufficient to meet their goals.
