Title: Virtualisation Designer
Location: Basingstoke
Length: 4+ months
Rate: £600 via umbrella
Brief overview on the role/project:
This role is required as part of a large programme to design and upgrade the virtualised platform that enables services for our customer. The candidate will have extensive experience of implementation and troubleshooting technical issues with complex vSphere solutions, design documentation updates, and hands on administration of vSphere. The candidate will take ownership of issues raised during test stages and be the main of contact for virtualisation related work on this programme. The candidate will work closely with other teams (network architects, test, service architects, etc) to ensure stability and growth.
Mandatory skills:
- Extensive experience of at least vSphere 6.7 knowledge preferably vSphere 7, implementation, administration, use of and design.
- vRops knowledge and experience preferable.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of resilient network solutions to support vSphere solutions.
- Good experience of enterprise SAN solutions and specifically iSCSI focussed.
- AD, DNS, DHCP, Routing, Vlans, RBAC, port groups with knowledge and impacts on a vSphere platform.
- Linux knowledge is good to have.
- Experienced in analysis and trouble-shooting technical issues, and supporting the implementation and test phases of the solution and successful handover to into service/support.
- Solid understanding of the project end-to-end cycle.
- Enterprise Application and Enterprise Management awareness.
- Experienced with producing BOMs, cost models.
- Responsible for any outstanding design documentation updates for their area of the overall solution, and ensure all designs produced are capable of passing review and governance.
- Provide input to reports, when required, to the PM/Programme, CTO.
- Experience of working in a secure environment.
- Able to take ownership and make quick decisions, and excellent communication skills.
