The role
As a Principal BIM and Digital Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Devonport is driving a critical infrastructure investment programme, led by the Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) Business Unit, to deliver advanced facilities for Astute Class submarine maintenance and shape the future of maritime defence.

Day-to-day, you'll play a pivotal part in delivering impactful Major Infrastructure Projects at Devonport, combining technical expertise with the management and leadership of a dedicated small team.

  • Provide digital delivery guidance and support BIM and Digital Information Management requirements.
  • Manage folder setups, configurations, and workflows for information exchange through common data environment.
  • Deliver training and technical support to projects and supply chain for collaboration via digital tools.
  • Support requirement capture, UAT, and IT engagement for digital enhancements to IT tools.
  • Assist BIM and Digital Principal Engineers with digital activities, ensuring alignment with delivery priorities.


This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Principal BIM and Digital Engineer

  • Significant experience in the design and construction industry.
  • Extensive expertise in BIM and Information Management, with the ability to apply it to infrastructure programmes.
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage people and teams.


Qualifications for the Principal BIM and Digital Engineer

  • A degree or equivalent in a construction-related discipline, such as architecture or structural engineering.
  • Chartered Professional status.
  • BIM certification is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
