Title: Marine Claims Adjuster
Length: 6 months
Rate: £638 per day via Umbrella
Location: Hybrid - London 2/3 days a week
What you need to know:
Do you have experience in handing marine claims from adjudication, providing management and clients with an efficient and effective claims service. Our client is looking to recruit a Marine Adjuster to support the team in handing a wide variety of Marine classes. In time our client is willing support the successful candidates in their development in Political Risk and Product Recall classes.
The Marine and Energy manage claims for Direct, Facultative Reinsurance and Treaty classes:
- Upstream Energy;
- Hull and Machinery;
- Cargo / Specie;
- Crisis Management / Product Recall;
- Political Risk / Trade Credit
Responsibilities
- Acting within an agreed claims handling authority and upholding the departmental objectives.
- Adhering to Lloyds Minimum Standards
- Receiving and acting upon first notifications and updates, determining coverage.
- Taking a fair and proportionate approach towards policy holders
- Agreeing valid claims
- Establishing and maintaining reserves
- Carrying out negotiations with brokers, face to face when required
- Handling claims electronically predominately via ECF and DocoSoft
- Managing third party experts
- Representing the syndicate at market meetings
- Maintaining compliance with internal and external risk controls and regulatory requirements
- Supervising and monitoring organizations where the syndicate has delegated claims authority
- Notifying and reporting claims notifications to underwriters and senior management where necessary
- Handling litigated cases in relevant jurisdictions
- Completing statics, SDRs, diary and other ancillary tasks to a high standard
- Work collaboratively
Experience:
- Handing major claims through discovery process and dispute resolution
- Managing multiple claims in their class of business and in multiple jurisdictions
- Experience in Marine and Energy classes
- Representing Talbot externally at mid-senior level
Qualifications:
- Qualified or studying towards ACII
Desired Skills:
- Detailed understanding of the London Market regulatory environment and implications for Talbot and our clients
- Full working knowledge of ECF and / or DocoSoft
- Litigation, mediation, dispute resolution and deposition skills
- Use of internal underwriting and claims systems and relevant software packages
- Ability to identify trends and understand how these may impact on Claims and the Syndicate more broadly.
