The purpose of the team and role
The Group is going through significant change. We've got big plans for where we want to be and we're on the right track. Our Networks unit plays a huge part in that.
Network leadership is fundamental to the organisations future. The Networks unit is where we bring together network strategy, transformation, and the modernisation of our mobile and fixed network assets. We also have an important direct partnering responsibility with Business and Consumer to design and build leading edge, converged (fixed & mobile) services and experiences for our customers.

We need to make sure we're telling our brilliant and compelling story that sets out our technology agenda for BT Group as well our specific Networks priorities and achievements to create a community of advocates.
That's where you come in. As an internal communications manager for Networks you'll be responsible for a few big things:

* Delivering big and small communications projects or campaigns that cover the breadth of what the Networks team does, from our networks, to security or supporting the Group wide inclusion campaigns.
* You'll also spot the stuff we need to share and know how to say 'no' to anything that doesn't help improve understanding of the bigger picture and drive advocacy in our people and in our brand.
* You'll make sure that any content you create for your audiences looks, sounds and feels like BT Group (in a good way). You'll work closely with our comms teams in the corporate teams to work out what and when communications need to be adapted for our Networks audience and you'll constantly look for new ways to improve what we do, share insight and any new ideas you've come across.
* Contributing as a core member of the Networks internal communications team. Leading on large elements of the Networks-wide plan and being a thought leader, planner, challenger, creative and ideas sponge for the team.

In a bit more detail, you'll:
* Create and deliver activity - making sure they're on brand and support our IC principles
* Lead on campaigns and core elements of the Network-wide plan, shaping what we do across Networks
* Build strong and respectful relationships with your stakeholders - including senior leadership - providing spot-on advice on comms best practice, industry trends and the Group-wide channel strategies to improve their understanding of the bigger comms picture
* Seek out feedback on IC activities and constantly look for new ways - internally and externally - to do things differently, in pursuit of making our IC team one of the best in the industry
* Support on events, including "Networks Live" a series of nine events across November and early December, this may include UK travel including some nights away.

What we need from you:
* Experienced comms expert who can hit the ground running
* Top-notch strategic and planning abilities - able to manage multiple plans and adapt to changing priorities and timelines quickly and easily
* Collaborative - evidence of working brilliantly with colleagues at all levels of the business
* Excellent stakeholder management, at all levels
* Ability to break down complicated, technical and corporate speak into interesting and engaging communications that showcase our commitment to treat colleagues like adults, that we like
* Demonstrable understanding of the business and internal communications - we're a specialist team so we need someone experienced and in the know about what this takes
* Strong verbal and written communication skills - particularly for presentations and creation of plans and strategy
