Financial Manager / Management Accountant

£45 - £50k DOE

South Wales

Remote - 1 day per month in the office

We are looking for a Financial Manager or Management Accountant to join a very successful and growing technology consultancy business.

They work with a number of clients in multiple sectors including very well-known and high profile brands.

This role will suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of financial operations and reviewing best practices.

As the company continues to grow there will also be the opportunity to build and lead a team.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Will to take an active approach in fostering strong relationships with internal staff, as well as suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Be involved managing the end-to-end financial process, from providing critical financial data for tendering, to order placement, account setup, requesting and tracking purchase order numbers, invoicing, and payments.
  • Enjoys a hands-on position, reporting to the CFO who will offer strategic oversight and guidance. Additionally, support and advice will be available from their external accountants.
  • Be responsible for the daily operations of the finance department.
  • Will, as the company grows, identify additional resource needs to build, train, and manage a finance team to support you.

Key responsibilities include:

Management Reporting

  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather necessary information for setting invoice expectations for clients and subcontractors.
  • Ensure daily reconciliation of all invoices and payments in Xero for accurate, real-time reporting to the CFO.
  • Analyse current expenditures and provide critical data to assist with budget setting.
  • Produce cost reports for use in R&D claims.
  • Monitor client accounts to ensure invoicing aligns with issued PO numbers.
  • Assist the CFO in preparing financial presentations for monthly board meetings.
  • Generate ad-hoc financial reports as needed to support tendering processes.

Payroll

  • Manage the monthly payroll for 30 permanent, salaried employees, including handling monthly HMRC PAYE submissions and reporting.
  • Issue payslips to staff and address any payroll-related inquiries.
  • Calculate and issue P11Ds, P60s, and P45s, along with all relevant HMRC submissions.
  • Administer sick pay and verify expense claims in accordance with the company's expense policy, ensuring all necessary information/documentation is collated for client invoicing and tax compliance.

Sales Ledger

  • Ensure accurate setup and maintenance of client information.
  • Request PO numbers for new orders, maintain internal tracking systems, and resolve any issues.
  • Prepare and send out monthly invoices.

Credit Control

  • Verify receipt of payments from clients and reconcile them in Xero.
  • Send reminders to clients for overdue payments.
  • Address invoicing queries by liaising with subcontractors and internal staff and scalate unresolved payment issues internally.

Purchase Ledger

  • Ensure accurate setup of suppliers and proper documentation is received and recorded.
  • Verify supplier invoices for accuracy and VAT compliance, resolving any discrepancies initially.
  • Post invoices to Xero, ensuring correct account allocation.

VAT

  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns for review and submission by external accountants.

Accounts

  • Collaborate with external accountants to provide the necessary information for the preparation and submission of statutory accounts.

This role is mostly remote based. Their office is in South Wales with the requirements to attend 1 day per month for meetings.
