Job Title: Financial Controller (UK Government Transformation Programme)
Location: Mostly Remote with occasional travel to Birmingham and London
Rate: Up to £700 per day (Inside IR35)
Duration: 6 Month initial contract (Likely to Extend)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join a UK Government transformation programme aimed at enhancing digital services for customers, partners, and colleagues. This ambitious programme spans three critical areas:
- Organization Design and Change: Building a robust change capability and a uniform approach across the organization.
- Service Design: Implementing a user-centred approach to change, driven by service design.
- Technology and Data Strategy: Promoting a new methodology for digital technology and data within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commercial and Procurement Management:
- Lead and manage the commercial and procurement aspects of the programme to ensure maximum value from the supplier base.
- Establish effective supplier management within the programme, including maintaining strong relationships.
- Oversee contract management for the programme.
Financial Control:
- Exercise tight financial control over the programme's multimillion-pound budget, including change control.
- Manage financial insights and requests related to the programme, both internally and externally.
Role Balance:
- The role is a balanced mix of 50% finance and 50% commercial responsibilities.
- Candidates must demonstrate the ability to be a part of the programme leadership team, being a proactive problem solver and self-starter.
- Hands-on experience in managing suppliers, procurement processes, and financial analysis is essential.
Essentials:
- Demonstrable finance and commercial experience.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Strong stakeholder and supplier management capabilities.
Desirable:
- Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (Q or PQ).
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS).
